Oz's 2-Cent reviews - 28th September 2011

oz
Oz reviews Annihilators Earthfall #1 (of 4), All star western #1, Aquaman #1, Flash #1, Green lantern new guardians #1, Justice league dark #1 and Superman #1.

sm1
Superman #1 - Just like Action Comics, SM #1 barely featured the man of steel and focused more on the world around him. I bought a Superman comic to read about Superman. Not Lois Lane, not the Daily Planet, not Metropolis; SUPERMAN. Strike 6.

Aquaman #1 - 20 pages of story to basically say "Aquaman's not a loser. He's cool!" does not bode well for this title's future. Johns needs to stop riding that fish dick. Shameful waste of Ivan Reis art.

flash1
Flash #1 - A simple story about being human can still be good if executed properly. And speaking of executions, Manapul KILLED it. His art was so refreshing and I'm definitely coming back for more.

glng
Green Lantern: New Guardians #1 - This comic gets a pass only because I like Kyle Rayner and it was nice to see him getting the spotlight. Nothing really happens in the issue but the mystery of the decommissioned rings has enough pull to earn this a second issue.

jld1
Justice League: Dark #1 - What a good looking book! It hits the ground running and doesn't stop. There's a mystery a foot and only the DC "magics" can have a hope to solve it.

All Star Western #1 - I liked this book but I don't think I'll be getting a second issue. I mainly picked it up as to have something extremely different but in the end, it just turned into a murder mystery set in a western backdrop. Also, I was wondering when the All Star part would kick in as we only got Jonah Hex.

tt1
Teen Titans #1 - Snoooore. Very shiny looking but it was total dollar store material. Lots of flash, no substance. Not getting a number 2. That makes strike 9 for the DCnU.

anef1
Annihilators: Earth Fall #1 - If this comic was a stew, the main ingredient used is water. So ya, this comic fell a little thin even though it featured some of my cosmic favs quite prominently. Still, DnA deserve a second chance on all things cosmic so I'll be returning next month.
