Wolverine and the X-Men: Alpha and Omega # 3 –

Brooks and Boschi split on art complete a great job as usual and Wood complies with a well-paced script that sets the finale nicely for Quire, who went from total control to a state of decrepit woe. He lunged Wolverine and Armor into the Construct, trapping their minds there, with Logan’s Berserker persona now adopting his bloodlust and enraged ire towards Quire, which QQ didn’t see coming. Wood does well to deconstruct QQ’s control to one where it’s such a bogged down mess, that he can’t even bring himself to alert Rachel to the quagmire at

Many people are calling on fans to abort buying Marvel Comics because of the Gary Freidrich issue. To each his own. I digress. Here, Renato Guedes’ art, just like his Aaron Wolverine run, is spot on, especially with the Rogers’ torture scene. Bendis craftily plots Rogers’ demise with the fall of the Avengers at the hands of Osborn and Osborn’s astute hands keep showing. Bendis hits the story out the park, a knockout. Gillen’s plot and dialogue is indeed spot on here. There’s mass hysteria, chaos yet it’s subliminally cohesive the tale that unwinds. He weaves intricate threads of the extinction team battling a new ecosystem that is attached to fallout from X-Force…and with Greg Land delivering the goods, this book offers many surprises. If not taken seriously, this title would pass under the radar, due in part to Gillen’s shoddy renumbering of the title, but this arc post-Sinister, while not nefarious is an exploratory piece of magic.

Brubaker and Guice Create Winter Soldier #1

Remember that teaser with the Winter Soldier star that said: ‘what if there wasn’t only one?’ Remember how everyone was saying they’re bringing Bucky back, while I was saying it was going to be a totally new winter soldier? I was totally right. You suck, I rule. Ok, It’s not confirmed who the Winter Soldier will be when Ed Brubaker and Butch Guice begin their new ingoing, Winter Soldier, beginning next year. Here’s the ad:

If it turns out to be Bucky, I’ll make a video apology, and I’ll literally eat my words.

Marvel Teases New Winter Soldier?

The latest teaser to come out of Marvel - a red star on a black background with the words “What if there wasn’t only one?” could indicate a new winter soldier. It also may tease a return of Bucky Barnes, which would add another hero on there ever-growing list of characters being brought back too soon.
