50 Most Influential Fictional Characters #50-46

From November 28th to December 25th 2013, we collected top ten lists from both members of the Facebook group and visitors to the site to compile the list of CBNAH Top 50 Most Influential Fictional Characters of All Time. Today we bring counting down from #50-46.

50. Link

Created By: Shigeru Miyamoto
From: The Legend of Zelda
First Appearance: The Legend of Zelda (1986)

One of the most iconic and enduring heroes of video games. Multiple characters throughout the Zelda series have bare the name of Link. All of them have displayed heroic and courageous feats. A character that a lot of gamers can look up and relate to. Link is apart of the "three pillars" of Nintendo along with Mario from the Mario series and Samus Aran from the Metroid series.

49. Zeus

From: Mythology

The son of Cronus, Zeus is one of the most powerful Gods in Greek mythology. He would later defeated his father to become the King of the gods. Zeus has appeared all over in pop culture from television to comics.

48. Daredevil

Created By: Stan Lee and Bill Everett
From: Daredevil
First Appearance: Daredevil #1 (1964)

Daredevil is one of the few superheroes with a disability. Matt Murdock is a blind lawyer with a heart of gold, who becomes Daredevil whenever the justice system fails. Frank Miller's run on the title (#158-191, #219, #226-233) reached new levels of popularity for the character, which has left a lasting impact on Daredevil to this date.

47. Don Draper

Created By: Matthew Weiner
From: Mad Men
First Appearance: "Smoke Gets in Your Eyes" (2007)

With the premiere of Mad Men on AMC in 2007, saw the rebirth of cool. The show has lead to renewed interest in the fashion of the early 1960s, many television series paying homage to the show and turning the AMC channel into a juggernaut in cable television. Well done, Mr. Draper.

46. Homer Simpson

Created By: Matt Groening

First Appearance: "Good Night" (1987) on The Tracey Ullman Show

Homer Simpson is a character that many people can either relate to or knows someone who might share the mannerism as Homer. What the Nerds are Watching...

Spring 2013 TV Preview

by Panagiotis Drakopoulos

With the end of winter, means that spring is here. What better way than previewing the spring television schedule. A couple of heavy hitters returning, Dunder Mifflin Paper Company closing its doors, a bizarre comedy based on a classic manga series, and a community college in trouble.

A Game of Thrones aka A Song of Ice and Fire Season 3

With the season three opener fresh out of the gates, George R. R. Martin’s epic fantasy series shows no sign of slowing down (expect in print form). This season will cover the first half of A Storm of Swords , the third book in the series. Making Sunday night the real “Must See TV” (Sorry NBC), along with it’s main competition…

Mad Men Season 6

…Mad Men. Yes, Don Draper and company return for the sixth season of the AMC hit series. From watching the season six teaser trailer, I notice that this season will focus more on female cast and Don Draper’s infidelity problems. Probably this season we’ll get to dive even deeper into the psyche of Mr. Draper.

The Office Series Finale

After nine long years, The Office will finally close its doors. Along with 30 Rock, The Office was the central core of Thursday night comedy. It’ll be sad seeing The Office ending, but it had a great run. The only dower for the final season is that Steve Carell won’t be returning as Michael Scott in a cameo or guest role. The final episode will be airing on May 16th.

DD Hokuto no Ken aka DD Fist of the North Star

Fist of the North Star is one of the most important mangas in Japan. So, for the 30th anniversary of Fist of the North Star, there’s a special comedy series based on the manga. The story of DD Fist of the North Star takes place in the dark future of 199x, where mankind was supposed to pick up the pieces after nuclear war, but that never happened. This show follows the characters of Fist of the North Star trying to make ends-meat in the present day Japan. The “DD” in the title stands for “Design Deformation”. The show hasn’t been announced for any streaming sites. So the only way to watch DD is to wait for the fansubs.

The Uncertain Future of... Community?

It’s been a rocky road for the fourth season of the cult hit show Community. Series creator Dan Harmon was either let go, fired or quit as showrunner (Thanks Bob Greenblatt). Chevy Chase losing his fucking mind, causing him to leave the show. NBC pulling the show from the fall primetime schedule to the winter schedule (Notice the trend). Ratings for season four falling faster and a boat load of troubles too long to list here. It doesn’t look like the show will be renewed for a fifth season, unless a miracle can happen.
