A 7 Year Old Weighs in on the New Starfire
Author Michele Lee asked her 7 year old daughter (a big starfire fan) what she thought of the new issue of Red Hood and the Outlaws, and posted the conversation on io9. It’s well worth a read. here’s a taste:
"What about this Starfire? What do you think about her?" (Referring to image from DC's reboot Red Hood and the Outsiders)
"I can see almost all of her boobs."
"And?"
"Well she is on the beach in her bikini. But…"
"But?"
"But, she's not relaxing or swimming. She's just posing a lot." *my daughter appears uncomfortable*
"Anything else?"
"Well, she's not fighting anyone. And not talking to anyone really. She's just almost naked and posing."

DC Gives Retailers a Boost
CBR has an interesting report from retailers regarding sales this past week. One retailer said: "I think we've added maybe 25 new subscribers at this stage in the relaunch," Exum added. "And they're not just asking for DC. Whatever new stuff is coming in from Marvel or Image Comics or anything we have to offer [is of interest.] And that's just fantastic. Whenever a small business can have a week where 25 new people are willing to say, 'I will see you next week and in two weeks,' that's a huge deal.” A huge deal indeed. well done DC, and let’s hope the industry continues to grow.

SLG Goes Entirely Digital
Robot 6 reports That Slave Labor Graphics have abandoned single issues in favour of digital distribution. Their first two offerings, Stephen Coughlin’s Sanctuary and Chris Wisnia’s Monstrosis, will be free for the first issue and 99 cents for subsequent issues. I think other publishes will be watching this closely - many critics have said that 99 cents is the ideal price point for fans. If their successful, you can bet many other independent publishes will be going down this route.
JT Krul leaves Green Arrow
CBR reported that JT Krul has joined John Rozum in stepping down from writing duties for a DCnU title, namely Green Arrow. Keith Giffen will replace him. These early changes could just be teething problems, or the could highlight a more seriously problem - do these middle to lower tier books have staying power?

All of These Things That Have Made Us
I came across this article over at The Comics Reporter and it was one of the best reads I’ve had in a long time. Awesome stuff. here’s an excerpt:
“You could do far worse than to build a lifetime of friendships with the people you meet in comics. Far, far worse. I'm not sure you could do much better. As much as I'm made uncomfortable by a vision of comics that lacks the comics themselves, a way of approaching the professional and artistic communities that could without blinking substitute designer baskets or arcade games or action figures for the comics medium, I understand the appeal of wanting to stay around smart, curious, kind and mostly forgiving people for as long as possible, even if one's passion for the art form fades.” Click here for the full article.
